Meal delivery service recall in Canada warns of 'high risk' of health issues

Folks who use Inspired Go brand products are being urged to check their recent deliveries after Canada has issued a recall on certain snack platters and salads in multiple provinces.

The recall notice for the Inspired Go products was listed on Dec. 19 by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) due to possible Listeria monocytoenes contamination.

The recalled products include Inspired Go's Bento Noodle Bowl, Greek Mezze Salad, Dill Chickpea Salad, Super Solstice Salad, and Pickle Platter Snack Pack and were distributed in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.

"Do not consume, use, sell, serve or distribute recalled products," reads the recall.

CFIA didn't state how many units of the recalled product were sold.

The recall has been categorized as a class one, which means that "there is a high risk that consuming the food may lead to serious health problems or death."

The CFIA added that the company triggered the recall and that there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. However, the CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.

"Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick," wrote the CFIA, adding that symptoms include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness.

"Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die," said the CFIA.
