TTC subway closures this weekend will complicate travel in Toronto's west end, with multiple stretches of the Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) route to shut down on Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25.
The transit agency plans to halt service along two overlapping stretches of track at the western end of Line 2 this weekend, with a handful of stations affected by both closures that will be closed throughout the weekend.
Here's everything you need to know to navigate the disruption ahead.
Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) will shut down between Kipling and Jane stations on Saturday, Oct. 24 to accommodate infrastructure work planned along the route.
The approximately 4.75-kilometre stretch at the west end of Line 2 will be replaced by shuttle bus service during the closure.
All stations along this stretch will remain open on Saturday for surface connections and purchasing/reloading of fare cards, though the Grenview entrance at Royal York Station will be closed.
The closure expands to the east on Sunday, with an even longer 6.85-kilometre stretch of Line 2 between Kipling and Keele to be closed for the full day of Sunday, Oct. 25, also due to planned infrastructure work.
Subway service will end at Keele during this outage, with the remaining portion of the line to the west replaced with shuttle bus service for the duration of the day.
Runnymede and High Park stations will remain off-limits to passengers during this closure, along with the Grenview entrance to Royal York Station. All other stations and entrances will remain open for passengers to connect with surface routes and purchase fares.
Regular subway service on Line 2 is expected to resume on Monday, Oct. 26, in time for the start of the morning rush at approximately 6 a.m.
