Is it faster to drive or take the TTC's new Scarborough Busway?

Getting around Scarborough has been a bit easier since the new TTC Scarborough Busway officially opened on Sept. 30, 2026. And while it's a marked improvement over buses running in mixed traffic, it left us wondering if a bus using the new express route could actually beat a car in a head-to-head race.

blogTO put this question to the test with a race between Scarborough Town Centre and Kennedy Station, pitting the new TTC busway and our trusty blogMobile (it's a Mini with our logo, but just roll with the name, please).

It was an incredibly tight race, but many may be surprised to learn that the new busway's 22-minute travel time was actually slightly faster than driving.
