Toronto's streets will be a whole lot busier this weekend as thousands of runners take over the city for the annual TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
More than 60,000 participants are expected to hit the pavement for the two-day event, which includes a 5K race on Saturday, Oct. 17, and the half-marathon and full marathon on Sunday, Oct. 18.
As a result, expect plenty of road closures and TTC diversions along the course that you should note before heading out.
On Saturday, participants will kick off the 5K race on Bay Street, just north of Front Street, facing southbound at 9 a.m. The following day, the half-marathon and full marathon will begin at Yonge Street, just north of Gerrard Street, facing northbound at 8 a.m.
On Saturday, for the 5K race, Dundas and Carlton streetcars will run on their regular schedule. However, Queen streetcars will operate until 8:15 a.m., then divert around the road closures. King streetcars will also start diverting after 7 a.m.
On Sunday, the last westbound Bloor Street bus will cross Christie Street at 7 a.m. All Bloor Street buses heading west will also divert at Church Street starting at 7 a.m.
