TTC's planned outages have returned and here's everything you need to know

TTC subway closures have officially returned this week following the departure of FIFA World Cup visitors.

The FIFA World Cup festivities in Toronto officially wrapped up on Sunday with the conclusion of the final Fan Fest event at Fort York. But now that international attention has shifted away from the city, locals are getting a cold shock back to reality as the disruption-free TTC we came to know and love in June and July reverts to the mess we all remember from before.

Three separate stretches of subway will be subject to four scheduled disruptions this week, and here's everything you need to know if you'll be riding the TTC between July 20 and 31.

Jane to Ossington

This stretch of the Line 2 - Bloor Danforth subway will shut down early nightly at 11:59 p.m. from Monday, July 20, to Wednesday, July 22, and will be replaced by shuttle buses. The outage is being attributed to planned track work, a familiar phrase locals heard frequently before the city's host role in the World Cup.    

Sheppard-Yonge to Don Mills

The entire Line 4 - Sheppard route will shut down and be replaced by shuttle buses nightly at 11:59 p.m. from Thursday, July 23, to Friday, July 24, another disruption the TTC blames on planned track work.

The same stretch will shut down early again from Monday, July 27, to Friday, July 31, for more planned track work.    

St George to Broadview

While the full-weekend closures seen frequently before the World Cup have not yet returned, there will still be minor weekend disruption on Line 2 this weekend.

Service on Line 2 between St George and Broadview stations will begin late on Sunday, July 26, at 11 a.m., with shuttle buses covering the route for the first few hours of the day due to "planned infrastructure maintenance."
