What's open and closed on Victoria Day 2026 in Toronto

What's open and closed on Victoria Day 2026 in Toronto is essential information you need to know if you plan on spending your day off with your friends or family, checking out some local attractions, or running any last-minute errands before the long weekend comes to a close.

Victoria Day, which falls on Monday, May 18 this year, is a statutory holiday here in Ontario, meaning many businesses and grocery chains will be closed for a much-deserved day off.

However, you might notice that some places that are typically closed on Victoria Day will be keeping their doors open this year. That's because earlier this year, the provincial government announced that it was proposing changes that would allow retail businesses across Ontario to stay open on the holiday.

Under the changes, retail businesses have the option to stay open on Victoria Day, and eligible employees could work and earn time-and-a-half premium pay.

With that in mind, here's what's open and closed on Victoria Day 2026 in Toronto.
