toronto mayor election

What Toronto residents would do if they could be mayor for one day

Toronto's upcoming municipal election on Oct. 26 will give the public the chance to shake things up at City Hall, but there's often a pretty sizeable gap between the policies we vote for and the policies we'd actually carry out if given the opportunity.

With just a few weeks away until Toronto residents cast their votes to elect the mayor and 25 city councillors, blogTO hit the streets to get a sense of what people would do if they held the keys to the mayor's office for just one day.

People suggested policies including lower rent, lower taxes, fixing potholes, injecting more money into the TTC, changing last call to 4 a.m., doing more to fight the province's bid to remove bike lanes, and more outreach and resources for people experiencing homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse issues.
