ttc subway closure this weekend may 30

TTC to shut down 5 kilometres of subway during busy weekend in Toronto

TTC subway closures this week include a major stretch of Line 2, coinciding with a busy weekend of events in Toronto and overlapping with other major road and transit outages.

The TTC plans to shut down subway service on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Jane and Ossington stations for the entire weekend of Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, 2026.

It's the latest in a string of closures that the transit agency attributes to "planned track work" ahead of the major influx of visitors heading to Toronto for the FIFA World Cup next month.

The roughly five-kilometre stretch of subway will be replaced by shuttle bus service during the outage.

Runnymede, High Park, Lansdowne and Dufferin stations will be fully closed to commuters, while other stations affected by the closure will remain open for passengers to connect with surface routes and purchase/reload fares.

Regular subway service is expected to resume on Monday, June 1.

This weekend's subway closure will coincide with a massive GO Transit shutdown and closure of two major Toronto highways. Good luck out there, Toronto!
