University of Toronto once again the top school in Canada in one key category

And the hits just keep coming for the University of Toronto.

In addition to being the top school in Canada and the second most sustainable university in the world, U of T can also applaud itself for being the number one research university in the country.

Research Infosource Inc. released a report this week outlining the top research universities, colleges and hospitals in Canada, as well as the Top 15 Federal Government research & development performers.

To determine the universities' rankings, factors such as faculty headcount, graduate student enrollment and financial data from Statistics Canada were closely looked at.

For a second year in a row, U of T nabbed the top spot for receiving $1,588,932 in funding in 2024, up 10.8 per cent from the previous year.

Of the 50 top universities, 17 others are in Ontario.

University of Ottawa and McMaster University round out the top 10, taking the 7th and 9th spots, respectively. 

When it comes to research performance, impact and excellence, U of T has lots to brag about heading into the new year.
