Couple from China leaves glowing review after visiting Ontario

Although many headlines nowadays tend to focus on Canada's growing challenges, one international couple's recent story serves as a reminder of what makes this country truly special.

The couple detailed their experience visiting Canada in a Reddit thread, which quickly went viral and garnered nearly 3,000 upvotes and over 260 comments. "Canadians are mind blowing NICE," the couple from China wrote, noting that they travelled to the country to assess its livability.

"The first day we arrived in Toronto, we lost Internet access due to issue from the SIM cards. Three strangers navigated us to the accommodation when we didn't even ask! One of them even walked a 500m detour to show us the transit station," the couple wrote.

"And on the same day, the local baker gave us our first order for free as a welcome," they continued, writing in the comments that their free gift came from a generous employee at a COBS Bread location near Queen Street East and Woodbine Avenue.

Their positive experiences with Canadians didn't end there. In late August, when travelling through the Bruce Peninsula, the couple wrote that their hotel owner upgraded their reservation for free just because the day was unexpectedly cold.

"I'm lacking historical knowledge about how Canadians built a society like this but I do know it takes a huge percentage of the demographic to maintain it! I know the country is now facing many issues, however, I believe you guys can thrive through any difficulty with a social fabric like this," the post continues.

"There are much more I wanted to share but I don't have the time today typing with a phone. And, there're still Alberta and B.C. on our list to explore!"

As expected, tons of Ontario residents (and Canadians) poured into the comments section to thank the couple and also provide them with some future travel recommendations.

"A lot of Canadians can probably use a nice message like that with all that is going on in the world. Thank you. Glad you are having a great trip," one person wrote.

"Thank you for taking the time out to recap your experiences — it makes me so proud of our country for making your vacation this welcoming," another Reddit user wrote.

This isn't the first time a tourist has taken to Reddit to declare their love for the province. Just this week, a U.S. tourist who was visiting the city from Texas left Toronto a rave review, writing, "I've got to say, I absolutely loved it. Toronto has such a unique vibe, I can't really compare it to any American city. It feels like its own thing, and it's super cool."
