ttc subway closure this weekend

The TTC is shutting down nearly 4km of subway for this entire weekend

A word of caution to anyone getting out to enjoy the first weekend of June in Toronto with events like Do West Fest and Taste of Lawrence: There is yet another full weekend transit closure on deck, which will inevitably make getting around the city a little more difficult.

The TTC has alerted riders that a seven-stop, nearly 4 km-long stretch of the city's subway network is set to shutter for the duration of both Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, impacting a central part of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth.

The closure will extend from Woodbine to Broadview stations, between which shuttle buses will operate in lieu of subways for the weekend.

Though residents won't be able to board trains travelling between the affected stations (which include Broadview, Chester, Pape, Donlands, Greenwood, Coxwell and Woodbine), those looking to purchase or top up their Presto cards, and/or to connect with connecting streetcar and bus routes, will be able to do so at all but Chester Station, which will be fully shuttered to the public.

The reason for the interruption is listed simply as "planned track work," as it has been for similar closures over most of the past many weekends.

The TTC's schedule for capital repairs for the year outlines a total of 38 full weekend closures on various portions of Lines 1 and 2 in 2025,  though overlapping projects will mean outages over 28 weekends total.
