ttc subway closure this weekend

Almost 4km of TTC subway will shut down this entire weekend

TTC closures this weekend will include a stretch of the Line 2 subway spanning seven stations, and here's what you need to know.

The transit agency has announced that it will shutter subway service on Line 2–Bloor Danforth between Woodbine and Broadview stations for the whole weekend of May 17, 2025, to May 18, 2025.

According to the TTC, the portion of subway stretching approximately 3.85 kilometres will be closed for the latest round of track work — part of an ongoing overhaul of the heavy rail network expected to require a whopping 38 weekend closures in 2025 alone.

As with previous closures, subway riders will be forced to the surface and relegated to shuttle buses.

Stations affected by the closure include Broadview, Chester, Pape, Donlands, Greenwood, Coxwell, and Woodbine. Most of these stations will remain open during the closure for customers to purchase/load Presto fares and connect to surface routes. However, Chester Station will remain closed throughout the weekend.

The TTC states that regular subway service is expected to resume in time for the regular start of service on Monday, May 19, at 6 a.m.
