Thousands of Chevrolet vehicles recalled across Canada due to crash risk

If you own a Chevrolet, it could be part of a huge nationwide recall.

Transport Canada issued a recall notice this month for 5,599 Chevrolet Equinox Electric Vehicles (EV).

It says the 2025 models of the car have a software problem that could cause the adaptive cruise control (ACC) to not work properly.

As a result, when the ACC is activated, the car might not slow down or stop if the system detects the need to apply brakes.

"An adaptive cruise control system that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of a crash," said Transport Canada.

It notes the recall only affects certain all-wheel drive models that aren't equipped with the Super Cruise feature.

If you own a Chevrolet Equinox EV from 2025, General Motors advises you to prepare to manually apply the brakes to safely slow or stop the car when using the ACC.

According to Transport Canada, General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the brake system control module software.

You can check if this recall applies to your vehicle on General Motors' site.

This isn't the only major recall in Canada right now.

There are huge egg and cucumber recalls across Canada due to salmonella risks.
