Homies Donuts
Homies Donuts has finally made its long-awaited debut in Toronto.
Known in Quebec as Homers Boite a Beignes, this viral donut chain takes its name from the well-known cartoon character Homer Simpson, whose love of donuts is almost as famous as his catchphrase: "D'oh!"
Since opening its first location in March of 2024, the brand has expanded across Quebec, with stores in Montreal, Gatineau and beyond.
Due to the company's rapid growth, many donut lovers suspected that it wouldn't be long before the chain made its way to Ontario; predictions which were proven true in April of 2026, when Homers opened its first store in Scarborough under the name "Homies Donuts".
Despite the name change, the store's appearance and aesthetic are very much in line with those of its Quebecois cousins. The walls are painted in contrasting shades of pink and blue, with neon lights illuminating the well-stocked display cases.
A collection of arcade cabinets can be found against the western wall, allowing customers to play games while waiting for their orders.
Though donuts are Homies' stock-in-trade, they're by no means the only items on the menu. Cinnamon buns, sandwiches and milkshakes are also available, along with a variety of hot and iced drinks.
Homies splits its donuts into two categories: traditional and favourites. A traditional donut will run you $2.22 a piece, while a favourite will cost around $3.33. You can get a dozen traditional donuts for $25, and a dozen favourites for $36.
Among these categories, you'll find flavours that range from simple (such as cinnamon) to strange (such as maple bacon).
Homers' signature donut is a brightly-coloured replica of the sprinkle-covered donut that the patriarch of the Simpson family is often found munching on.
The creme brulee donut, on the other hand, is coated in a layer of burnt sugar, giving it the same crackly texture that its eponymous dessert sibling is known for.
Cinnamon buns cost $5.85 each, or $34 for a half dozen. You can also swap any donut for a bun for $2.25.
Much like their donuts, Homies' cinnamon buns come in a wide variety of flavours, including caramel pecan and raspberry pistachio.
One of Homies' more unusual creations is the "beignewich", a combination of a sandwich and a donut.
The double egg bacon and cheese beignewich ($7) consists of a traditional donut topped with everything seasoning, then filled with silky eggs, crispy bacon and melted cheese.
The fried chicken bacon and cheese beignewich ($11) is made with a glazed donut, giving it a sweet flavour that contrasts heavily with the savoury fillings. A creamy sauce is used to tie these disparate elements together.
Strawberry milkshakes ($7.50) are rich and creamy, thanks to a winning combination of strawberry syrup and whipped cream.
Meanwhile, the Oreo milkshake ($8.50) is one of Homies' "premium" shakes, made with crumbled Oreo cookies.
Both types of milkshake come with a donut hole — or "Li'l Homie" — skewered on the end of the straw.
Homies Donuts is located at 4549 Kingston Road.
