cabin staycation ontario airbnb

This off-grid Ontario cabin rental comes with a strict ban on electronics

If you've reached the point where it's officially time to unplug — and I mean literally — this tiny Airbnb cabin in Ontario might be the perfect spot for your next staycation.

The Cedertra Cabin is an off-grid, fully solar-powered retreat tucked away in the small hamlet of Reaboro in the heart of Kawartha Lakes. About an hour and a half drive from Toronto, the cabin is perfect for anyone craving a real escape from city life and a completely unplugged, off-grid retreat.

Inspired by Scandinavian architecture, the cabin is thoughtfully designed with just enough space for two people.

There's a ladder leading up to the bed, propane for essentials, and even a Swedish composting toilet. Because the property is entirely off-grid, the hosts are firm about one thing: electricity must be conserved.

Aside from their phones and laptops, of course, guests aren't permitted to bring any other electronics on site. The Airbnb listing clearly states that appliances like air fryers, hair straighteners, electric heaters, and cooktops are prohibited.

If you're truly open to a digital detox, you might not want or need to bring your phone or any of these gadgets.

There's no air conditioning on site, but a fan is provided to keep you cool in the summer months. And don't worry about winter because guests checking in during the colder season will be set up with a heater to stay warm and cozy.

And, if you plan to enjoy the cabin's fire pit or sauna, just be sure to bring your own firewood. Cedertra Cabin embraces tiny and minimalist living, offering a cozy space tucked deep in the woods.

Rates for this WiFi-free retreat start at $244 per night, plus applicable taxes and fees, and guests can book directly through Airbnb
