Scenic cruises through Ontario's Muskoka region return for season this weekend

As warm weather settles back into Ontario, scenic boat tours through the province's cottage country are also making their return — just in time for Mother's Day weekend.

Muskoka Cruises, which offers tours out of Bracebridge and Port Carling, is known for its picturesque sightseeing boat cruises through the region's sparkling waters.

The company offers two cruises throughout the summer season, including one that departs from the locks in Port Carling onboard the newly renovated Lady Rosseau. Meanwhile, the Lady Muskoka II, its newest addition, departs from Bracebridge and boasts panoramic windows, giving you sweeping views as it winds down along the Muskoka River toward the base of the town's waterfall.

Each cruise runs for approximately 90 minutes, and you'll have access to onboard drinks and snacks, including non-alcoholic beverages and chips, which are available for purchase. Tickets for both cruises start at $47 per adult, plus additional taxes and fees.

Reservations can be made online by selecting your preferred location or vessel. Although tickets are also sold in person prior to departure, they are subject to availability, meaning booking ahead is likely the safer bet, especially during the peak summer times.

The season is officially set to kick off with a special series of Mother's Day cruises running May 9 and 10. From there, regular cruises will take place on weekends throughout May, expand to three days a week in June, and run daily during the height of summer in July and August.

Lady Rousseau cruises depart from the dock at 7 Lock St. E. in Port Carling, located directly across from Mooskoka's Ice Cream shop. The Lady Muskoka II is based in Bracebridge at 300 Ecclestone Dr., docked behind the Quality Inn.
