Ontario beach named one of the best in Canada

If you're on the hunt for the perfect tropical getaway this summer, you won't have to travel very far (or even book a plane ticket) to find it.

Digital magazine Travel and Tour World (TTW) released its top 50 beach travel destinations in the world for 2026 this week, which recognizes countries around the globe that are "setting the highest standard for coastal travel experiences."

The list features 500 selected beaches, with 10 in Canada, including one in Ontario, that are renowned for their untouched shorelines, clear waters, and marine conservation.

"Canada showcases rugged Atlantic and Pacific coastlines, pristine freshwater beaches and dramatic island landscapes, creating one of the world's most diverse coastal destinations," the report reads.

"Whether exploring towering sea cliffs, secluded coves, picturesque fishing villages or expansive freshwater beaches, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking scenery, abundant marine wildlife, fresh seafood, charming waterfront towns and spectacular sunsets."

Featured at #10 on the Canada top 10 list are the Sandbanks Beaches here in Ontario. Sandbanks Provincial Park is the world's largest baymouth barrier dune formation, and features three shady beaches, namely Outlet Beach, Dunes Beach, and Lakeshore Beach.

Tucked away at the southern edge of Prince Edward County, Sandbanks Provincial Park is renowned for its "freshwater beaches and towering dunes create  a unique lakeside escape."

The beaches, which have become some of Ontario's most popular vacation destinations, feature turquoise blue waters and silky white sand, and offer a ton of water activities, including canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding.

Overall, Canada was ranked the 27th best beach travel destination in 2026, beating out tropical getaways like Costa Rica, Aruba, Saint Lucia, and Fiji.

These are the top 10 beaches in Canada, according to the list:

  1. Chesterman Beach, Tofino, B.C.
  2. Long Beach, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, B.C.
  3. Kitsilano Beach, Vancouver, B.C.
  4. English Bay Beach, Vancouver, B.C.
