Toronto getting new flight to country known for world-renowned dining scene

In the midst of planning out your dream European summer, you'll soon have a new option for a nonstop flight service between Toronto Pearson and a city known for its world-famous cuisine.

Spanish carrier Iberia has just announced that its new nonstop flight service between Toronto and Madrid will launch in June 2026, with five weekly flights.

The direct flight service will officially launch on June 13, 2026, with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Flights will depart Toronto around 5:10 p.m. and arrive at Madrid Barajas Airport at 6:55 a.m. local time. Returning flights will depart Madrid at 12 p.m. and arrive back in Toronto at 3 p.m.

Spain's capital is known for its innovative culinary scene and is home to numerous Michelin-starred restaurants, including DiverXO, the city's only three-Michelin-starred restaurant, as well as Coque, a family-run restaurant with a massive wine cellar.

The new flights are being launched as part of the Spanish airline's Flight Plan 2030 Strategy.

The carrier will face competition from Air Canada, which already operates a direct flight service between Toronto and Madrid during the summer. Currently, there are no non-stop options between the two cities, with only one-stop flights offered by international carriers like Lufthansa, British Airways, or TAP Portugal, with layovers in European or U.S. cities.

Flights from Toronto to Madrid with Iberia are now available for booking online.
