The Toronto Raptors have bought into the potential of Jamal Shead.
On Thursday, the team signed the 24-year-old point guard to a three-year, $24 million extension that will keep him with the Raptors through the end of the 2029-30 season, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
The Raptors acquired Shead via a draft-night trade with the Sacramento Kings at the 2024 NBA Draft. The trade sent Shead north of the border along with Davion Mitchell, Aleksandar Vezenkov, and a 2025 second-round pick in exchange for Jalen McDaniels.
Over the off-season, the Raptors picked up Shead's $2.3 million entry-level option for the upcoming 2026-27 season. If Toronto did not sign him to an extension, Shead would have become a restricted free agent at the end of the upcoming season.

The 6-foot-1 guard had a total of 354 assists off the bench last season, which was the most in the league as a reserve player.
His play off the bench for the Raptors last season even earned him a Sixth Man of the Year Award vote.
Besides Shead's play, he's been an extremely reliable option night in and night out for head coach Darko Rajaković.
In his two years with Toronto, Shead has only missed a total of seven games.
He was also one of 18 players across the league last year to play all 82 regular-season games before averaging nine points, five assists and 1.4 steals in the team's first-round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
