Kyle Lowry to host free party for Raptors fans in Toronto's Jurassic Park

Kyle Lowry is finally getting his dues following a 20-year NBA career, and Toronto Raptors fans will soon be able to celebrate with the legend himself.

The team will host a one-of-a-kind retirement party in the heart of "Jurassic Park" this month to celebrate Kyle Lowry's legendary career with the Raptors — and it's completely free to attend.

The Raptors will welcome fans to Maple Leaf Square on Saturday, Sept. 19, for Kyle's Block Party, presented by Tangerine.

The free daytime event will begin at 11:30 a.m. ET and celebrate the connection Lowry built with Raptors fans during his nine seasons in Toronto.

There will apparently be merchandise pop-ups, giveaways, apparel customization and a photo booth, as well as special guest appearances — and, of course, Lowry himself.

Fans can enter for the chance to receive free tickets to Kyle's Block Party through the Fan Access platform on the Raptors App opening Friday, Sept. 4 at noon ET.

There's really no better place in Toronto to celebrate Lowry than Jurassic Park, given it was the spot where thousands of fans gathered to watch the No. 7-led Raptors win the first NBA Championship in franchise history during the 2018-19 season.

"Jurassic Park became special because our fans made it special, and our players felt that connection every night," said Raptors GM Bobby Webster.

"Kyle and his teammates knew that while they were playing inside, thousands of people were right outside those doors cheering them on, so it only feels right to come back to the place they created and throw a party with No. 7."

After 20 seasons in the NBA, Lowry announced his retirement from basketball earlier this summer, signing a ceremonial one-day contract to officially retire as a Toronto Raptor.

Kyle's Block Party is one of several events the team is hosting to celebrate what Lowry has done for the city and franchise in the lead-up to his jersey retirement ceremony on Jan. 10, 2027.

That night, Lowry's iconic No. 7 will be raised to the rafters at Scotiabank Arena as the Raptors take on his hometown team, the Philadelphia 76ers.
