Globetrotting 'Savannah Bananas' bringing their viral baseball circus to Toronto

The baseball circus is going international, and the Savannah Bananas are coming to Canada.

On Thursday, the Savannah Bananas announced during a YouTube livestream that they're bringing their high-energy, Harlem Globetrotters-style "Banana Ball" baseball show north of the border for the first time.

Toronto is one of two Canadian stops on the tour.

The Bananas will play two games at Rogers Centre on Aug. 14 and 15, 2027, against the Indianapolis Clowns, a team featuring former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr.

The two-hour spectacle, built around choreography and crowd participation, promises live performances and appearances typically by special local guests.

What is Banana Ball?

If you're wondering what the Savannah Bananas are all about, they play baseball with a twist on the traditional rules.

There's a two-hour time limit, and fans can make outs if they catch a foul ball. There are also no bunts or walks.

On ball four, the batter can run to first base and can advance to as many bases as possible until the catcher throws the ball to every position player before the batter can be tagged.

Instead of scoring runs, teams receive points for winning innings, until the ninth inning when runs are recorded.

The Banana Ball concept is designed to attract younger fans to the game with plenty of on-field antics, including pitchers throwing the ball while on stilts, or doing backflips, and outs being recorded by the fans themselves.

Rogers Centre will be one of 79 stadiums featured on the 2027 Banana Ball Championship League tour, which the organization expects to draw more than four million fans.

The wildly popular baseball entertainment show sold out stadiums across 45 U.S. states last year, and now the team is looking to expand its reach into Canada.

The other Canadian stop will be in Winnipeg, with games at Blue Cross Park and Princess Auto Stadium on Aug. 26 and 28. The Party Animals will face the Texas Tailgaters in Winnipeg.

Fans hoping to snag tickets for the Toronto games can enter the Savannah Bananas ticket lottery through the Blue Jays' website before it closes at midnight on Oct. 31, 2026.

From there, the team will conduct a random draw a few months before the games, giving selected fans the chance to purchase tickets.
