Blue Jays pitcher had the best day ever with his family at Toronto Zoo
After nine games in nine days across the U.S., the Toronto Blue Jays finally got a much‑needed day off Thursday, and one player made the most of it by heading northeast of the city for a family day at the Toronto Zoo.
In a video shared on Instagram, Blue Jays starting pitcher Shane Bieber, his wife, Kara, and their one-year-old son made a trip to the zoo to check out some hippos, rhinos and lions.
By the looks of the clip, the Bieber family even got a behind-the-scenes experience with the giraffes, with Bieber and his son, Kav, feeding the world's tallest land animals some leaves and shoots.
The Biebers appeared to love every minute of the Toronto Zoo, and even captioned the video "the best day," then doubled down on it in the comment section.
It's been a special few months for the couple, who recently announced that their family is growing with a baby girl on the way next year.
In a joint Instagram post, the Biebers wrote "Round two" alongside a hatching chick emoji, followed by: "Bieber house is growing!"
While things have been exciting off the field, Bieber's first full season with the Blue Jays has unfortunately been hindered by injuries.
He missed the first two months of the season with an elbow injury before being placed back on the injured list following his Aug. 20 start with right teres inflammation.
Bieber was reportedly given the OK to begin throwing again from 75 feet on Monday, but he hasn't started a rehab assignment just yet.
The 31-year-old has made just 11 starts for Toronto this season, posting a 5-2 record with a 4.37 earned run average.
Mitch Bannon of The Athletic said to Sportsnet's Blake Murphy on Sept. 9 that he'd be very surprised if Bieber returned before the end of the regular season.

If the Blue Jays don't make the playoffs, Bieber may have already thrown his last pitch for the franchise.
He's in the final year of his two-year, $26 million deal and is slated to become a free agent at the end of the 2026 season.
