Kevin Gausman's daughter jokingly throws shade at Toronto Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays fans are still coming to terms with Kevin Gausman's departure, and now his five-year-old daughter has added salt to the wound.

During Wednesday's Cubs-Dodgers game, Gausman joined the Marquee Sports Network in-game broadcast to talk about his first few days as a Chicago Cub and a hilarious reaction from his five-year-old daughter, Sadie, to the new team.

"You know, it's funny. My five-year-old, after the first game here, was kind of poking me a little bit and said, 'You know, I like the Cubs. They can beat the Dodgers.'"

Gausman couldn't help but laugh.

"That was kind of a stab in the heart," he said. "Right after she said the Blue Jays couldn't, so that was a tough moment."

The playful jab comes less than a year after the Blue Jays suffered a heartbreaking extra-innings loss in Game 7 of the World Series. Too soon, Sadie, way too soon.

Chicago's trade for the former Blue Jays pitcher has been great for the Cubs' clubhouse so far. The team scored 10 runs against the Dodgers in Gausman's first game with the club before completing a three-game sweep of the defending World Series champions.

The Blue Jays traded Gausman to the Cubs on Sunday in exchange for prospects Ty Southisene and Brett Bateman, ending the right-hander's five-year tenure in Toronto.

The Cubs are currently on track to reach the postseason for the second consecutive season, sitting 17 games above .500 with a record of 66-49. Chicago holds the top wild-card spot in the National League.

Although there were rumours that Gausman could make his first start against his former club on Thursday, he'll instead make his Cubs debut on Friday against the Kansas City Royals.
