Raptors legend Kyle Lowry gathered Toronto sports media at the OVO Athletic Centre on Tuesday morning to announce that he'd be officially retiring as a Toronto Raptor.
Lowry had support in the crowd from his family, ownership and even former teammate Kawhi Leonard — though one of the best moments came from the only other Raptors player to have his jersey number retired by the franchise.
While Lowry was answering a reporter's question, he suddenly paused and answered a phone call. On the other end was Vince Carter.
Carter seemed unaware that Lowry was in the middle of announcing his retirement, so he immediately congratulated him and said it was finally time to hit the golf course together.
"We aren't talking about that right now. It's your day, man. I'm proud of you, man. You're the GROAT, you're the man. Enjoy it," Carter said.

The reference to golf was fitting, considering that Lowry teased his retirement announcement earlier this week by hitting balls into an indoor simulator.
When Lowry ended the call, he looked around the room and laughed.
"Vince Carter, everybody!" he said.
Lowry is the first player in franchise history to officially retire as a Toronto Raptor after signing a ceremonial one-day contract. Carter, who retired following the 2019-20 season, did not sign a similar deal, but later had his No.15 jersey retired.
This upcoming season, Lowry will join Carter to become the only Raptors players to have their jerseys raised into the rafters.
Lowry's jersey number will join Carter's in the Scotiabank Arena rafters at a date still to be determined. It is expected to be revealed after the NBA releases its 2026-27 schedule later this summer.
