Sounds like the Toronto Blue Jays are cooking up a trade with the Phillies

The Toronto Blue Jays could look like a significantly different team following Monday's trade deadline.

The Jays, who own a disappointing 50-59 record on the year as of Thursday, are expected to be sellers going into the deadline. There are several players on this current roster who have found themselves in trade speculation in recent days and weeks. 

Now, as reported by MLB Network's Jon Morosi, we have a good idea as to where at least a few Jays could be traded.

Morosi mentioned early Thursday morning that the Jays and Philadelphia Phillies are emerging as trade partners. It makes plenty of sense given that the Phillies could use upgrades in several areas, while the Jays have a number of players in different positions up for grabs.

"As spring complex neighbors, Jays execs know Phillies prospects well," Morosi wrote. 

The Phillies aren't nearly as strong a team as they were in 2025, as they currently occupy the NL's final wild-card spot with a 57-52 record. Expectations were high for them once again entering 2026, which may cause their GM, Preston Mattingly, to get desperate.

Part of the issue for the Phillies is that their bats have gone ice cold as of late. That could make several Jays players, including George Springer and Daulton Varsho, of interest.

Jays GM Ross Atkins still has some time to work out the best deals for his group, but based on all the speculation that's surfaced, it sounds as though he is going to be a very busy individual between now and Monday.
