Toronto Blue Jays to honour Buck Martinez with special bobblehead giveaway

When Buck Martinez is inducted into the club's newly renamed Hall of Excellence on Aug. 29, the Blue Jays will celebrate the occasion with a special bobblehead that pays tribute to all three chapters of his career here.

The collectible features Martinez as a catcher during his five seasons with Toronto, as the club's manager during the 2001 and 2002 seasons, and as the unmistakable voice Blue Jays fans have welcomed into their homes for more than a dozen years as Sportsnet's broadcaster.

The 77-year-old announced his retirement in February 2026 following Toronto's memorable 2025 World Series run.

His retirement came nearly four years after he stepped away from the broadcast booth for three months during the 2022 season while undergoing cancer treatment, before he made an inspiring return.

Martinez will become the 12th member of the Blue Jays' Level of Excellence, which will be transformed into the Hall of Excellence on Aug. 29, joining franchise greats Dave Stieb, Roy Halladay, Pat Gillick, Cito Gaston, Tony Fernandez, Carlos Delgado, Tom Cheek, Joe Carter, George Bell, Paul Beeston and José Bautista.

The commemorative bobblehead will be handed out to the first 15,000 fans through the gates on that day, with the Blue Jays also planning a pre-game ceremony to honour Martinez before taking on the Seattle Mariners.

For many fans, it'll be one more chance to celebrate the voice that made us all fall in love with the team through the 2010s and some of the franchise's most iconic moments, including the 2025 World Series.
