Here's how you can enjoy Canada's Wonderland on a budget

A day at Canada's Wonderland doesn't have to break the bank. You can easily spend a full day at the biggest amusement park in the country while on a budget, and I'm about to tell you how.

Whether you're planning your first visit of the season or squeezing in another trip for a few more thrill rides and some water park action, there are a few simple ways to stretch your dollar without skimping out on the fun.

Take advantage of Season Pass perks

This is key, which is why it's number one on the list: piggyback with someone who has a Season Pass. Passholders regularly receive discounted Bring-A-Friend tickets through the park's Perks & Play program, often for $35.99 plus applicable taxes and fees. During promotional periods, those tickets can drop to as low as $25.99. Passholders can purchase tickets for up to six friends.

Even better? If your friends or family members have a Prestige Pass, they get one of the park's most coveted perks: two free friend admissions each year.

Bring your own reusable water bottle

Staying hydrated during a full day of roller coasters is essential, especially in Ontario's summer heat. What some people don't realize is that Canada's Wonderland allows guests to bring refillable water bottles into the park, so you can top them up throughout the day instead of paying for bottled water.

The park has dedicated bottle-filling stations, generally located near each public washroom, making it easy to stay cool while cutting the day's costs. Imagine spending around $5.50 on a bottle of water every time yours runs out. Almost sounds diabolical.

Consider the Ride & Refresh Summer Ticket

Speaking of drinks, here's another way to save when you're thirsty.

If hydration breaks are your thing, the Ride & Refresh Summer Ticket can offer better value than purchasing everything separately.

This package includes single-day admission, unlimited Coca-Cola fountain drink refills throughout your visit (available every 15 minutes), and a complimentary Dasani water bottle, all for $60 plus applicable taxes.

It's valid on any one regular operating day during the promotional period, making it a convenient option if you're planning to spend the whole day at the park.

Look into the newest membership program

Six Flags has recently introduced another way to enjoy Canada's Wonderland on a budget. Following the end of online season passes earlier this year, the new membership program allows guests to enjoy many of the same perks without paying the full cost up front.

You can now purchase a Gold Membership for just $9 a month, which comes with unlimited visits to the park, admission to the water park and access to Halloween Haunt. Meanwhile, the Prestige Membership, which gets you perks like free parking and VIP entrance, starts at $20 a month.

Use the park's in-and-out privileges

While outside food isn't permitted inside the park, Canada's Wonderland does offer in-and-out privileges, meaning you can step out to your car for lunch and snacks at any time.

So, if the on-site food vendors aren't giving you the best bang for your buck (except the funnel cakes, of course), take a break, head back to your car, and enjoy a picnic in the parking lot or at one of the picnic tables located just outside the entrance.

With summer in full swing and amusement parks back to being a seasonal favourite, hopefully these tips help you enjoy Canada's Wonderland while staying on budget.
