Beloved former Toronto Blue Jays player making money off his legendary catchphrase
Former Toronto Blue Jays infielder Munenori Kawasaki has dropped a new merchandise line.
Despite not having played for the Blue Jays in over a decade and living back in Japan, Kawasaki remains a very popular figure amongst the fan base.
His fun and quirky personality, paired with limited English, made him an easy player for fans to support.
While Kawasaki had many memorable moments during his time with the Blue Jays, the one that continues to be talked about today came during an interview with former Sportsnet reporter Barry Davis.
The "Monkey never cramps" catchphrase quickly went viral, with the YouTube video of the clip sitting at nearly six million views. Now, nearly 12 years later, the 45-year-old is looking to capitalize.
Last month, Kawasaki announced that he has designed a new line of hats. They feature a cartoon monkey on the front, along with the iconic catchphrase written on the side.

"An original design cap by Munenori Kawasaki," an excerpt from his website reads. "The front features an embroidered original character, and the side has the 'Monkey Never Cramps' logo. The back is embroidered with the number '52' in the same color, resulting in a simple yet meticulously crafted design.
"This versatile cap is perfect for everyday wear, training, and watching games."
The hats can be purchased through international shipping through his website. They are currently sold out, though the next restock is scheduled for June 30. With shipping, it comes out to roughly C$69.
Though not available yet through his website, it seems as though some shirts will soon be on the way as well based on a recent post he uploaded to Instagram.
Despite being 45 years old, Kawasaki continues to play professional baseball. Just last season, he helped lead the Mid East Falcons to a Baseball United championship while being named playoff MVP.
