The Davis Schneider era with the Toronto Blue Jays has come to a pause... for now.
On Monday, the Toronto Blue Jays manager made a tough roster decision with outfielder Nathan Lukes returning from a hamstring injury, optioning utility player Davis Schneider to Buffalo Triple-A.

The 27-year-old has been with the team since August 2024 and has had some iconic moments, like his Game 5 home run in the 2025 World Series.
Schneider has become a popular figure among Blue Jays fans over the past two seasons thanks to his trademark moustache and personality, but he has struggled to hit a baseball as of late, hitting .127 for nine hits in 71 at-bats, and only reaching base once in his last five games.
Two weeks ago, manager John Schneider chose to keep Davis Schneider on the roster instead of outfielder Yohendrick Piñango when Addison Barger returned from the injured list.
Barger only lasted one game before heading back to the 10-day IL with elbow inflammation, and Piñango was recalled. Since returning, Piñango has hit .313 and been a significant spark in the Blue Jays lineup, which has clearly changed the Blue Jays skipper's mind.
With Davis Schneider optioned to Triple-A Buffalo, it marks his third, and final, option year, allowing the Blue Jays to continue moving him between the majors and minors freely for the rest of the season.
Who knows? Maybe a stint in Buffalo helps Schneider find his swing again to help with a future postseason run. But for now, a stint in the minors feels necessary.
