Perhaps a change in scenery was all Mitch Marner needed.
The former Toronto Maple Leafs star is currently leading the Stanley Cup Playoffs in scoring, with 16 points in 10 games with the Vegas Golden Knights.
While Marner was always regarded as a superstar talent, there was a serious stigma around the league that he couldn't perform in the playoffs. Prior to this year, he'd never recorded more than 14 postseason points in a single calendar year.
He never scored more than three goals in a single playoff while with the Leafs. But in Vegas? He's already up to six goals with the Golden Knights.

"He wasn't the problem," one user chimed in on X. "Should have gotten rid of [Auston] Matthews instead."
Through his nine seasons with the Leafs, Marner was never able to help his team advance past the second round. This year, he's a major reason as to why the Golden Knights are just two wins away from advancing to the Western Conference Final.
"The kid is out of hockey hell and it shows," another user wrote.
"People here, people in Toronto, all the people that talk about this guy, they don't see any of the things that he brings to the game, even if he doesn't score a goal," Golden Knights head coach John Tortorella said recently. "That narrative [that Marner isn't a playoff performer] is a bunch of bullsh*t."
That said, there are still plenty of Marner doubters out there. Many have suggested that he's simply faced lesser opponents than he did in his time with the Leafs.
"We act surprised. He always performed well vs teams who wouldn’t sniff playoffs in the East. This is literally his forte," a Leafs fan wrote.
No pressure city, and now facing Utah and now Anaheim. Of course he’s doing well. If they get past the Ducks, watch how well he does against Colorado or Minnesota

While Marner hasn't silenced all his critics yet, he's certainly caused many to reconsider their stance.
