Just one FIFA World Cup match in Toronto hasn't sold out yet

Just eight FIFA World Cup matches across the 16 North American cities aren't yet sold out, and one of them is in Toronto.

There are still hundreds of tickets still available for Canada’s first match against Bosnia & Herzegovina, scheduled for June 12 at BMO Field, via FIFA's official ticketing site. And there's a reason behind why so many tickets are available.canada soccer fans fifa

The current face value of the Category 1 tickets available is C$3,135, which is significantly higher in comparison to other group-stage matches in Toronto. FIFA has set a steep price due to the fact it's an opening game for a World Cup host nation.

When FIFA first released tickets to the public for a random selection draw last December, the prices for Canada's opening game started at C$1,300 for a Category 3 ticket, $2,205 for Category 2 and $3,135 for Category 1.

Less than 400 tickets are still available for Canada's opening match against Bosnia & Herzegovina.

If you don't have tickets and dropping more than $3,000 on a single game isn’t in the cards, there are cheaper ways to watch a World Cup match in Toronto.

We spotted tickets for the four other group-stage matches on the resale market for as low as $694 on StubHub to see Ghana vs. Panama on June 17, and around $1,000 to see the giant group-stage clash between Germany and Côte d'Ivoire on June 20.

StubHub also has tickets for Canada's opener at less than FIFA's listed price, starting around $2,400.
