Toronto Blue Jays have one of MLB's highest payrolls and they aren't done yet

The Toronto Blue Jays' run to the World Series has seemingly changed this franchise for the better.

After years of disappointment on the free-agent front, the Jays have already landed one of the best starting pitchers in Dylan Cease, while also adding another intriguing starter in Cody Ponce. Best of all, they aren't done yet.

The Jays are continuing to look for a closer and have been linked to both Edwin Diaz and Pete Fairbanks. This is all going on while they are still attempting to re-sign Bo Bichette. Oh, and don't forget, they've also been in talks with Kyle Tucker's camp.

The Blue Jays haven't had issues spending money in the past. The difference this time around is that they are receiving more interest from players in joining the organization, which, in turn, is now proving to fans just how much they are willing to spend.

The Blue Jays currently have the second-highest 26-man payroll in the MLB at a jaw-dropping $218.3 million. Their total payroll allocations equal the same amount, which is third, only to the L.A. Dodgers and New York Mets.

It is worth noting that several of the other teams that appear above are also expected to continue adding to their respective payrolls. For example, teams like the Dodgers and New York Yankees have also been linked to Bichette, while the Mets are still actively trying to re-sign Diaz. 

Nonetheless, the Jays have been and are expected to continue being one of the biggest players in free agency. Thanks to their great 2025 season, it appears as though this franchise is officially all in on being a World Series contender, and will likely continue spending like so in the years to come.

Whether this team is able to get back to the World Series in 2026 remains to be seen, but they figure to be a very competitive team once again. Thanks to their spending, this has become a very exciting organization for fans across the country to support.
