Toronto Blue Jays are trying to woo top free agent down in Florida

The Toronto Blue Jays are hoping a bit of holiday magic might help them land one of the game's top free agents.

According to FanSided's Robert Murray and later followed up by multiple reports, free agent Kyle Tucker visited the Blue Jays' complex in Dunedin, Florida, this week.

Several Blue Jays players in recent seasons have spoken about the quality of the team's facilities both in Florida and Toronto.

And for a player like Tucker, who's expected to land a deal worth hundreds of millions of dollars, it'd only make sense to get a full tour of his home digs if he were to end up signing in Toronto.

If nothing else, it shows that the Jays appear to be serious in their willingness to try to attract top free agents, with players like Tucker also showing at least a preliminary interest in Toronto.

What could the Blue Jays expect in Kyle Tucker?

Tucker didn't have the best 2025 season with the Chicago Cubs, putting up: a .266 average with 22 home runs and 73 RBI in 136 games.

But the four-time All-Star is widely considered the top free agent on the market, and would help bolster a Blue Jays lineup looking to build off last year's run to the World Series.

Tucker himself won a World Series title in Houston with the Astros in 2022. In his first three seasons in Houston, he was a teammate of Toronto playoff hero George Springer, who likely would be able to relay a bit of his experience playing north of the border.

With Toronto already having spent $210 million on starting pitcher Dylan Cease, it is unclear exactly how much they've got to spend. There is a possibility that splurging on Tucker could signal the end for longtime Toronto fan fave Bo Bichette, who hit free agency for the first time this offseason.
