world series bench clearing brawl

Bench-clearing chaos breaks out at World Series finale in Toronto

Chaos broke out in the middle of Game 7 of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

With the Blue Jays leading 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Dodgers pitcher Justin Wrobleski was locked into a battle with Andres Gimenez. Two pitches nearly hit Gimenez before Wrobleski hit him on the hand. The third-straight throw that either hit or came near the Toronto shortstop, and it didn't sit well.

As Gimenez was starting his walk to first base, a few choice words were exchanged between the Blue Jays shortstop and Wrobleski before both benches emptied, and players from both teams flooded onto the field.

It was certainly quite the spectacle during the biggest game of the year.

This is not the type of thing you typically see in the postseason, let alone Game 7 of the World Series, but emotions were running high on both sides. Warnings were assessed to both teams when the dust settled.
