Canada's Wonderland reveals 2025 opening date and there's a new coaster this year

Canada's Wonderland is gearing up for its 2025 season with a huge push to hire thousands of workers, all while the park works on its new record-breaking flagship attraction set to open this year.

The park announced on Wednesday that it plans to hire approximately 4,000 seasonal workers ahead of its opening day for the 2025 season on May 8.

The hiring drive is part of a broader coordinated push by Wonderland's parent company, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, to fill approximately 50,000 seasonal roles at its North American parks.

Which jobs are available?

Positions available include:
• Food & Beverage Associates
• Ride Operators
• Lifeguards
• Security Associates
• Sales Associates for Merchandise and Games
• Park Services Attendants

"Seasonal associates are the lifeblood of our business and play an instrumental role in consistently delivering amazing experiences to our park guests," said Phil Liggett, general manager.

How much do the roles pay?

Candidates under 18 years old would earn  $16.20 per hour, which is the current student minimum wage in Ontario, sitting one dollar per hour lower than the adult minimum wage as of October 2024.

The park promises its hires a range of "amazing" perks, including discounts at Canada's Wonderland and free admission to any Six Flags park. Other perks include exclusive park events for associates, ride nights, reward and recognition programs, and even special road trips.

Liggett notes hires are offered "competitive wages and unbeatable perks that include opportunities for leadership development, paid internships, college scholarships, career advancement, and so much more."

How to apply

Hiring events are expected to be held in mid-February at Six Flags parks across North America, and Wonderland applicants should expect an invite between February 15-22.

Those interested in applying are encouraged to visit the Six Flags job page.

What's new this year

Canada's Wonderland will be welcoming its new star attraction this year with a record-breaking launch coaster known as AlpenFury, which is now racing through construction ahead of the park's May opening.

Wonderland spokesperson Grace Peacock told us in January that the park is "working to open AlpenFury early in the season" and promises that further updates on the project will be shared in the months to come.

Designed by manufacturer Premier Rides, AlpenFury will be the 19th roller coaster at Canada's Wonderland, and the fourth ride to directly interact with the park's iconic centrepiece mountain.

It will be Canada's longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster with an exhilarating 1,000-metre-long track that will rocket riders out of the park's iconic Wonder Mountain, reaching top speeds of 115 km/h and hurling through nine inversions — the most of any launch coaster in North America.
