toronto halloween on church wellesley party 2025

Toronto's biggest free Halloween party is back this month and it's now two days

Toronto's biggest free Halloween party returns to the Church-Wellesley Village this month, and organizers are planning for Halloween on Church to be even bigger and better this year.

The annual event will shut down Church St. from Carlton to Gloucester between 6:30 p.m. and midnight on Oct. 31, and the neighbourhood will be flooded with drag performances, live music, crazy costumes, and overall spooky vibes.

But things won't end when the clock strikes midnight. New this year, the celebration is expanding with an extra night of festivities on Nov. 1. The party continues on the second day, in the parking lot at 512 Church St., happening from 7 p.m. to midnight; guests can enjoy another evening of music, dancing, and Halloween chaos — this extension comes without any street closures.

The main party will feature performances by Canada's Drag Race fame Jada Shada Hudson, who will be accompanied by a lineup of local drag queens, singers, and dancers, to keep things entertaining all night long.

Furthermore, the Queen of Church, Sofonda, will perform to honour 25 years of drag in the Village, and a runway show hosted by The Men's Room is also on the docket.  You can see a list of all performers on Halloween on Church's official website

And of course, aside from entertainment like go-go dancers and DJ sets, Church Street is set to host a plethora of costumed guests celebrating Halloween 2025.

What else is new this year? Attendees can expect a fully licensed Beer Garden serving "wicked brews and creepy cocktails," giving partygoers a place to refuel before heading back into the crowds.

Every Halloween night, this free-to-attend event has been home to thousands of people; what began as a gathering among 2SLGBTQ+ locals has transformed into a massive citywide attraction.

Despite its positive impacts on the community, Halloween on Church has faced controversy in the past.

Last year, organizers faced backlash after using AI-generated images to promote the party. The community rallied for local queer artists, suggesting that Halloween on Church should commission work from them instead of AI.

Halloween on Church will take place on Oct. 31 between Carlton and Gloucester St., and on Nov. 1 in the parking lot of 512 Church St.
