Ontario forest comes to life with stunning light installation on mountaintop trail

An Ontario mountaintop forest is hosting an immersive nighttime experience of art, light, and sound.

AGORA: Path of Light is a new outdoor attraction at Blue Mountain offering a three-kilometre-long circuit trail in the resort's Explore Park, which allows visitors to interact with a series of installations inspired by the five elements: air, space, earth, water, and fire.

The trail offers five distinct displays sprawled across the expanse — one for each element — and combines nature and storytelling into one attraction. Named The North Wind, The Hearth, The Flame, The Spark, and the Armonina Installation, each offers a unique experiential adventure that will light up your social media feed after dark.

At The North Wind, visitors activate lights by whispering or howling into the sky, while at The Hearth, you can speak to the fire about your reflections from the trail, prompting it to illuminate in response to your words.

Adding to the experience, guests can access the attraction via the resort's open-air gondola up the mountain under the stars, offering a bit of a pre-show for the illuminated stroll.

AGORA: Path of Light runs until Oct. 26, Sunday to Thursday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday to Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Hikers can enjoy the displays under the night sky, with access included in the Full-Access Pass, offering unlimited single-day entry to all open attractions at Blue Mountain Village for $49.

Since this is a nighttime experience, visitors are encouraged to follow safety protocols: wear closed-toe shoes and bring a flashlight to navigate dimly lit areas safely.

AGORA: Path of Light is happening at Explore Park in Blue Mountain, located at 1759 Village Cres., in The Blue Mountains, Ont.
