Radar: The Wood Brothers, Hear/Hear Holiday Party, Badly Drawn Boy, PWYC Wednesdays with The Cool Hands, "Your Calling" Workshop

MUSIC | Wood Brothers
Bassist Chris Wood, one third of the epic jazz/jam trio Medeski/Martin & Wood, plays tonight with his brother Oliver on guitar as The Wood Brothers. With several releases under their belt, and many critical thumbs up, this folk and Americana tinged group with chops to burn will be putting on a killer show with singer/songwriter Clay Cook opening with a solo set.
The Mod Club (722 College Street), 7PM $13.50

LITERATURE | Hear/Hear Holiday Party
Come out and support Now Hear This! - a literacy organization celebrating a successful year of developing their members' writing skills, and connecting them with their community. Tonight's "end-of-year bash" will be a great place to schmooze for up-and-coming writers, poets, or anyone interested in the Toronto literary community.
Free Times Cafe (320 College Street), 7PM FREE

MUSIC | Badly Drawn Boy @ The Great Hall
Damon Gough, aka Badly Drawn Boy, the English singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, has just dropped a new album (the first of a trilogy), entitled "It's What I'm Thinking Pt1 - Photographing Snowflakes." This release finds Gough teamed up with his old producer, Andy Votel, perhaps in the hope of regaining some of the mainstream success he found with his 2000 release "The Hour of the Bewilderbeast." Justin Jones & The Driving Rain from the Washington, DC area will open tonight's show.
The Great Hall (1087 Queen Street West), 8PM $27.50

MUSIC | PWYC Weds w/ The Cool Hands
Another too-cool-for-school lineup this week at Rancho Relaxo, where you name the cover charge. This week has a mixture of musical flavours to dig deep on. Peterborough's Levon will take the stage with their folk-rock stylings. Also featured will be The Auras, a Toronto garage/psych/pop outfit that is gaining some momentum. Tonight's headliner is The Cool Hands from right here in Hogtown. Should be awesome!
Rancho Relaxo (300 College Street), 9PM PWYC

WORKSHOP | Your Calling Workshop
If you are one of the many people out there who still haven't figured out your true calling - what you are truly meant to do with your life.... This workshop may be for you. There are so many people who get great grades in school, are acknowledged as "very bright" by their teachers and peers, but just cannot get it together and get "on track" to a career. Learn the 5 building blocks of the "Calling Formula," and start 2011 with a new direction that you can get excited about!
The Inner Garden (401 Richmond Street West), 6:30PM $37
