Renowned rapper Lil Wayne created a city-wide frenzy last night after he canceled his Toronto show just one hour before he was set to perform.
Budweiser Stage was buzzing with fans as they gathered to enjoy his much-anticipated local stop on the Tha Carter VI North American Tour.
But, after many ticketholders had already arrived at venue and taken their seats, it was suddenly postponed.
"Due to unforeseen illness, Lil Wayne's Toronto show tonight will be postponed," read a message posted to the screens around the stadium.
"As his fans know, he loves putting on nothing short of the best performances for those who come out, and he was excited for this one. Please stay tuned for the new date coming soon. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced."
According to concert-goers who have since taken to social media to bemoan the situation, the stadium was about 40 per cent full at the time that the message went up.

Budweiser Stadium was filling up with concert-goers when Lil Wayne's team posted a statement announcing that the show would be postponed.
Of course, attendees were not happy, with some even jumping to their own conclusions about what had happened. One of the popular theories appears to be that the artist may not have even made it into the country.
Lil Wayne is no stranger to facing problems at the Canadian border due to his past criminal charges. Rumours swirled in 2011 when, on his I Am Still Music tour, his team put out a statement refuting that he'd experienced trouble getting into Canada, as some had feared he might.
And Toronto has not forgotten: After last night's debacle, when Tyga was minutes away from his opening set and cancellation was newly announced, people were digging up old graves:
"Prolly got denied entry into Canada again. Why he would try Canada and waste his fans' time and crush their hopes of seeing him is beyond me," one disappointed fan wrote on a Reddit thread on the topic.
Another echoed the idea: "Is it confirmed if he even made it into the country? At what stage was the illness first disclosed? This is messed up by all parties."
One attendee claimed to have done their own digging, alleging they managed to get details from security on-site, possibly confirming the rumours: "Security told us he was held up at the border, sounds more accurate than the billboard considering if he was that sick, it would have been cancelled this morning at least, not 1.25 hours after the concert was supposed to start," they wrote in the comments section.
Others said that this behaviour is habitual, complaining that he's canceled shows at the drop of a dime, or showed up ridiculously late to perform for less time than expected.
There are also mixed reviews about the rapper's shows in general.
So Toronto is torn, and for more than one reason, and perhaps will never find out the true reason why the show was called off at the last minute.
The new dates for the Lil Wayne: Tha Carter VI Tour are yet to be announced.
