drake radio ban

Milwaukee radio station refuses to play Drake songs during Raptors-Bucks series

Fresh off a tough, yet victorious seven-game series against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Toronto Raptors are gearing up to face the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in this year's NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

It's a great time to be a basketball fan in the City of Toronto, especially in the wake of Kawhi Leonard's insane, history-making buzzer beater Sunday night.

It's safe to say the city is feeling confident — our city, that is. Milwaukee however, not so much, as evidenced by one local radio station's cowardly refusal to play any Drake songs until the Raptors-Bucks series is over.

"So you guys, you know the Bucks are playing the Toronto Raptors, right?" asks a host from 103.7 KISS-FM in a video posted to the station's Twitter feed Tuesday morning. "I have an idea."

"Drake is from Toronto," continues the Milwaukee radio station employee, pronouncing the city's name incorrectly with two hard T's.

"Drake's a big smack-talker on the basketball court. I say until the series is over we take a break from playing Drake! No more Drake 'til the series is done."

The host and two other employees then go into a control room and "delete" all of Drake's songs from rotation while chanting "BREAK FROM DRAKE! GO BUCKS GO!"

Cute, 103.7 KISS-FM, but it's your loss — and Drake isn't the only cat in this city with a propensity towards smack talk.

I declare right here and now that, until the Raptors win their upcoming series against the Bucks, we should no longer allow Torontonians to enjoy content about... um... film director Jerry Zucker? Caroline in the City supporting actress Amy Pietz? Olympic gold medalist Arlie Schardt?

Sorry, that don't seem to be many famous people from Milwaukee outside of the NFL.

Play his music or don't play his music, but only Drake can control the Drake curse, and if his attire for Game 7 in Toronto's series against the 76ers is any indication, he will go there.

The Raptors face off against the Bucks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals tomorrow at Wisconsin's Fiserv Forum.

For the sake of radio listeners in the cheese-loving state, I hope this series is swift.
