Wide Open Mic on a Tuesday Night

Walking up Spadina during the day, it's easy to miss Wide Open (139A Spadina), a bar that is very much the opposite of that title.

The narrow little opening just south of Richmond is hard to miss at night though, as music and chatter pour out onto the quiet street from its open front window.

Tuesday nights, as I learned a few hours ago, you can add the sound of brave performers to that mix. It's Open Mic night and there isn't a seat left in the whole place.

Tonight's show featured some local bravery and lots of acoustic guitars. There were even a few imports, like Miraflor (pictured above), who drove in from Guelph just to squeeze into the set.

If you're thinking of dusting off the ol' 6-string and joining in (as I considered, briefly, before coming to my senses), you can give Wide Open a call at 416-727-5411 to find out how to get yourself on the performers list.
