Toronto's chart-topping megastar Drake has officially opened his latest venture: a new concert venue in Ottawa.
Following the model set by Drake's History Toronto venue, the new History Ottawa event space will host major headliners, concerts, and nightlife events in the downtown core of Canada's capital, on Rideau Street, within the city's bustling ByWard Market district.
The new venue replaces a former Chapters location that closed down in 2022.
Reports in 2024 confirmed that entertainment giant Live Nation Canada signed the building's lease, with a goal to transform the space into a massive entertainment hub.
Originally slated to open in late 2025, the building now opens to the public on Aug. 20, with 41,000 square feet of above-ground space and 24,000 square feet in the basement, for a total capacity of 2,000.
The Hotline Bling rapper, who created buzz around Toronto this year with a series of album-promo stunts like a humongous ice sculpture and a bizarre party where only people named Janice got invites, took to his Instagram account to share the news with his fans.
The star singer touted History Ottawa as "a venue for outstanding artists and the incredible fan bases that seek that communal family experience."
His announcement hints at plans to expand the newly opened event space. Drake says that he hopes to eventually share this experience with "every city and country worldwide."
The venue already has a jam-packed itinerary, with a stellar lineup of artists and talent set to grace the stage. The inaugural performance will be by none other than The Wallflowers, who are set to play at History Ottawa on Aug. 20.
September will see Kaleo's "Way Down We Go Tour," Blackberry Smoke's "25th Anniversary Tour 2026," and more. You can see a complete list of performers on the venue's official website.
History Ottawa is located at 47 Rideau St. in Ottawa, Ont.
