Upcoming gigs...


With the film festival hogging much of Toronto's limelight, it's easy to have missed the fact that this is also a fantastic week for live music. Here's a little overview of some of the stuff worth a check:

- U2 play throughout the week at the Air Canada Center; getting a ticket could be tough tho...
- Much hyped indie newcomers Bloc Party perform down at The Docks tonight (Monday)
- Funky hip hop collective Blackalicious play at The Mod Club tomorrow night (Tuesday)
- Moody post rock band The Notwist play at Lee's Palace Thursday night
- The White Stripes play Molson Amphitheatre Friday evening
- Electronic pioneer DJ Spooky performs a laptop set over at The Drake Hotel late on Saturday

As if that's not enough, Friday also sees the start of the Ear to the Ground festival. That evening sees beatmeister RJD2, scratch maniac Kid Koala and Holy F*** all playing. The festival goes on all throughout the weekend. Other artists scheduled to appear include Saul Williams, Brendan Benson and The Organ.
