Canada Day Bash with Kalabash

Harbourfront is always a good place to be on a holiday weekend and this Canada Day (July 1) is no exception.

I've personally seen Toronto-based Kalabash perform live twice. But even if you've never seen or even heard of them before, you're in for a treat. Both times I saw them I was amazed by the graceful manner in which the contemporary jazz sextet fuses Caribbean steelpan with jazz harmonies.

The end result is a mellifluous musical gumbo of Latin Jazz, Calypso, Soca and Reggae that goes down easy. I have no doubt that witnessing this talented ensemble for the third time will be a charm.
