Black Friday 2015 sales in Toronto see local shops doing their best to make this shopping event a thing in Canada. Prepare to battle the crowds at shopping malls and popular stores as stock is getting slapped with heavily reduced price tags. If you take an aggressive approach to shopping, this may be your ideal day for knocking some names off your gift list.
Here are my picks for the top Black Friday sales in Toronto for 2015.
Best Buy is a favourite destination for sale-savvy techies on Black Friday. Those who are willing to brave the chaos will find select TVs, DSLR cameras, and computers with hundreds of dollars hacked off the price tags.
Henry's is where to go this Friday if your camera equipment needs a revamp. The shop is cutting the prices on the Sony a6000 ($100 off), Fujifilm XT-1 ($200 off), Sony DSC-RX100 ($80 off) and a few more models.
Vistek has yet to announce its price cuts, only advertising the sale with a countdown and vague rundown of which products will be discounted. What we know so far: there will be deals on DSLRs, tripods, lenses, camera bags and video equipment.
The Source is putting hundred of items on sale for its Black Friday extravaganza. If you can get to the store early, you may be able to get your hands on a discounted Xbox One or Fluid 55" HDTV (only $499). They also have a few online exclusives, if you don't feel like leaving your house.
If you've pledged allegiance to Bill Gates, shunning Apple products in favour of Microsoft goods, you'll probably want to see what's cooking at the Microsoft Store. Deals include $150 tablets and $100 Xbox One bundles.
SVP Sports normally has pretty low prices compared to competitors, so its sales are worth checking out. As of now, they store has not released what its Friday discounts will looks like, but you can expect top sneaker brands (think Nike, Vans and Converse) at extremely low prices.
Little Burgundy has cut prices on all its sale merchandise by 50% and hacked 20% off some of its regularly priced stock. You'll find Timberlands and UGGs among the on-sale stock, so if you need to invest in some winter footwear, now's the time.
ALDO has put over 1000 styles on sale (50% off) in the name of Black Friday. If you plan on shopping in-store, remember that not all ALDO locations were created equally; in these situations it's best to go big or stay home.
Call It Spring
For Black Friday, Call it Spring has taken an additional 40% off of its sale merchandise. Now most pairs ring in between $20-$50. Select regularly priced men's and women's boots have also received cuts, now costing only $69.99.
Got holiday parties coming up but nothing to wear? Head to Nine West to grab a new bag or a pair of pumps. The shop is cutting prices on all its stock (including sale merchandise) by 40%.
John Fluevog is hosting Black Friday sales at both of its locations. You'll find fashionable footwear for up to 65% off.
If you like luxury goods but not their price tag, now's the time to head to Holts. The city's classiest shopping destination is reducing prices for Magenta Friday. You'll fine top of the line designer goods for up to 50% off.
Over The Rainbow
On Friday Over The Rainbow will cut the prices on select denim by 40%. That means you might be able to grab a pair of jeans from 7 For All Mankind or J Brand for under $200. Bonus, if you fall in love with a regularly priced piece, the store will cover the taxes for you.
Of the stores in the Eaton Centre, Ted Baker is not known as being one of the cheapest. If you want to snag a piece from the fashion-forward London brand, I suggest going Friday. Prices on select goods are reduced by 40%.
North Standard Trading Post
If you prefer supporting local brands, North Standard is worth hitting up. The shop is taking 30% off its entire stock. You'll be able to find everything from beanies to blankets by HBC, Tuck Shop Co. and more.
Forever 21 is normally pretty good with prices, so it should come as no surprise that its Black Friday prices are insanely low (starting at $6). If you want to revamp your entire wardrobe, this is a one stop shop.
You'll be able to snag all your garb at True Religion for 40% (some exclusions apply). If there was ever a time to stock up on jeans, it's now.
At Aritzia you can grab pieces from Talula, TNA, Wilfred and more for up to 50% off from November 24th-29th. For Friday only, Aritzia will have everything for up to 50% off on sale in stores and online. Thankfully it's not just summer overstock. There's plenty of knits and parkas that would cost you a pretty penny otherwise.
Need to suit up for the holiday season? Indochino is cutting the prices on some of its slickest creations. Reductions range between 10%-70%, so could save you hundreds of dollars.
Korry's, a favourite for meanswear on The Danforth, will cut prices by 50% on select styles in the name of Black Friday. So if you're in need of a new blazer or full suit, now's the time to buy.
Drake General Store
The Drake General Store has made Black Friday a full weekend-long event. Depending on how much you're planning on spending, you could get up to $50 off your purchase. The shop sells clothes as well as a bunch of unique giftable goods, so now's the time to get some holiday shopping done.
H&M is doing some hefty price cuts this Friday. Items start at $5, so now's the time to stock up on winter clothing and accessories. Plan to go as early as possible, as lines will probably rival those of the Balmain release.

What's better than buying local? Buying local at a steep discount, obviously. Shopgirls is offering 20%-25% on select goods on Friday. There's plenty of winter friendly gear included in the sale, if you haven't purchased a new parka or scarf in a while.
The Bay sells everything from outwear to appliances, making it a one stop shop. While the sales have been plentiful all week, you'll want to head to the store extra early on Friday. The first 200 customers in the store at 7 a.m. will receive a $20 savings card.
Urban Planet has been counting down the days until Black Friday with new sales added every day. The main event, however, offers the best of the best deals. On top of the shop hosting giveaways galore (we're talking free iPhones, iPads, and Hoverboards), it's offering a store-wide buy one get one 70% off deal at select locations.
Head to Bodyblue to take advantage of its bogo deal. The shop carries almost every brand of denim imaginable, so if you practically live in jeans this should be your Black Friday destination.
Silver Snail Comics
If you're into comics, you're probably familiar with the Silver Snail. On Friday most of the stock will be 20%-60% off, so you can buy up your favourite superhero stories and/or memorabilia without putting a huge dent in your bank account.
Head to your local Indigo/Chapters/Coles to get stellar deals on books, stationary, and electronic goods. Kobo Glos have been reduced to $99.99, and you can grab bestselling books for up to 70% off.
Play De Record
Vinyl fanatics will want to head to Play De Record on Friday. The store is celebrating Record Store Day's Black Friday sale by showcasing special vinyl and CD releases. The shop will open at 9am and have 10% off all non-Record Store Day records as well in honour of Black Friday.
Kops Records is also celebrating Record Store Day's Black Friday sale with special releases evenly distributed among its three shops. As for Black Friday deals, all $1 records will be 50% off, all diggers/value/45s will be 20% off and all vintage LPs will be 15% off. If you spend $15 or more on vintage records, you'll also get 15% off new records.
Dead Dog Records
Dead Dog Records has yet to release the details of its sale, but you can expect a ton of discounted vinyl, CDs, memorabilia and more. Keep your eye on the store's Facebook page for details.
It may not have the same appeal as an independently run record store, but HMV has some of the best deals in town when it comes to music, movies and memorabilia. You can save up to 75% on selected stock online and in-store.
Long & McQuade
If you want to make your own music, head to Long & McQuade this Friday. Select stores will have discounts on everything from drum kits to celtic harps. There's also a ton of audio equipment on sale.
The Royal Conservatory
Rather invest in seeing live music? For one day only, you can purchase tickets to select Koerner Hall concerts at 20% off. All sale concerts run between December 5th and April 23rd, so they could make a great Christmas present for the music lover in your life.
The furniture sold at Elte Market normally comes with a hefty price tag attached. However, this Friday you'll be able to purchase some pieces at IKEA prices. Grab chairs for under $400, sofas for under $700, and throws for less than $40.
Head to the Junction if you want to get in on the Black Friday sales but would rather skip high volume shopping areas. At Haveli Home you'll be able to buy textiles at 25% off and select furniture at 40% off.
If you are in desperate need of a home makeover and brave enough to take on one of the busiest Black Friday destinations, head to IKEA. The first 200 visitors will get $50 off their purchase while the first 500 visitors can claim a free breakfast (so get there as early as possible). If you aren't an early riser, there are still plenty of discounts to take advantage of on everything from sofas to bags.
