This Week in Fashion: The Party & Sales Edition

Tonight: Hit the "Covet Evening" at Parkdale boutique Shopgirls
Shopgirls, the Queen West shop known for its commitment to Canadian designers first and foremost, is hosting an evening of spending sprees in support of Montreal label Covet. Enjoy 25% off all Covet merch, plus a few styles shipped in specifically for tonight's shindig — plus a little wine and nibbles while you work. RSVP here to guarantee a spot or just take your chances. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., 1342 Queen St. W.

Are you a budding designer/artist/photographer? Apply to be part of FAT, Toronto's alternative fashion week
Once a year, FAT Arts & Fashion Week hosts the other white meat of fashion - the industry's underground/budding talents. Slated to run from April 24 to 28 (a month after the official FDCC schedule), FAT will showcase over 200 national and international visual artists, designers and performers with traditional-meets-unconventional runway shows, live performances, installation exhibits, and video screenings. The annual event commands its own attention and has served as alternative outlets for established designers like Evan Biddell and as a springboard for newer names that usually go on to fashion week proper like the Diepo girls. This year's theme is "fashionSCAPES": the notion of landscapes that are "vast, unique, seasonal and ever-changing." Apply here. The early bird deadline is December 22.

Tomorrow: Lost & Found throws a party for a Coveteur girl's new clothing line
Erin Kleinberg, one half of the Coveteur girls, has become microfamous with her partner-in-crime for photographing and propping the homes of the rich and fashionable. But she's also a fashion designer, and Dundas West boutique Lost & Found has secured her entire fall/winter line. Tomorrow night, both invite you to shop the entire collection and to meet the girls. You're invited, but you have to get on the list. To find out how, click here.

More sales!
TNT is hosting its Holiday Sale with 30-50% off select merch for everyone on your list. For store hours and locations, click here.

Mark those calendars. FGI (Fashion Group International) is hosting its always-great designer sample sale featuring local names like Marika Brose and David Dixon that you don't often see during your fast-fashion shopping trips. Shop everything from womenswear to fur to skincare - and more! Find out all you need to know here.

As an FYI
The Fashion Calendar, a new event-tracking portal for all things style, is reporting that the next installment of LGFW - showcasing looks for fall/winter 2012 - will run from March 12 to March 17, remaining in its most recent location. Start your engines.
