American restaurant chain Olive Garden continues to expand its footprint in Ontario, with another location set to open in Waterloo.
Olive Garden Canada shared the news on Instagram, and while the announcement doesn't include an official opening date, the caption says the restaurant is aiming to launch in "late spring 2027."
Local residents and hungry diners have since flooded the comments section with excitement, admitting they've been eagerly waiting for the restaurant's unlimited appetizers and coveted selection of pasta dishes for a while.
Because, come on, everyone can do with bottomless helpings of soup, salad, and breadsticks…
"I can't wait…been wanting Olive Garden for yearssssss now," someone said. "You are playing with my emotions! Can't wait!" another wrote.
Olive Garden's newest addition to its Ontario lineup will replace the existing Swiss Chalet at The Boardwalk, an open-air shopping and service centre featuring an impressive lineup of businesses in the Kitchener-Waterloo region.
Renovations have already started at the former Swiss Chalet building, making the anticipated spring 2027 opening even more plausible.
The Italian restaurant chain first entered the Canadian market in the 1990s but struggled to make a lasting impression on local diners and eventually scaled back its presence in the country. Only eight Olive Garden restaurants remained, all situated in Western Canada.
But things started looking up in 2025, when Recipe Restaurant Group International, Canada's largest full-service restaurant company, officially acquired all eight existing Olive Garden locations and announced plans to expand the chain into select Ontario cities.
In 2026, the brand began acting on those plans, opening locations in Ajax, Ottawa, and Vaughan.
