Iconic Toronto Thai restaurant opening new location at Ontario mall

Toronto's most famous Thai restaurant is finally expanding outside the city with a new location at an Ontario mall.

It's not hard to find a great Thai restaurant in Toronto, but you'd be hard-pressed to find one more talked-about than Pai. Not only is the food great (that much cannot be argued), but it also has an uncanny ability to attract some of the biggest stars of sports, screen and song to dine there.

Since opening its now-iconic Entertainment District location on Duncan Street in 2014, Pai has remained a wholly Toronto-based operation. A sister location came to Yonge and Eglinton in 2024, followed by outposts at Kitchen Hubs in Liberty Village and the Castlefield Design District.

Soon, though, that'll all change, as Pai is officially embarking on an expansion into the GTA with a Mississauga location at Square One.

Situated in the mall's food district, you can expect a whole lot more than a mere mall food court kiosk from Pai Mississauga.

The restaurant will boast indoor seating for 80, plus another 30 on a semi-enclosed patio, which means the Pai experience, as it were, will be just as alive at Square One as it is at the Toronto brick-and-mortars. Celebrity attendance may vary.

According to co-owner and chef Nuit Regular, the decision to open a location in Mississauga wasn't random. Rather, it marks a homecoming of sorts.

"Mississauga holds a special place in my heart because it's where my life in Canada began. Bringing PAI here feels like coming home, and we're excited to welcome both new and longtime guests to experience the flavours, traditions, and warm hospitality of Northern Thailand," she explains.

At the restaurant, you can expect to find all of Pai's staple Northern Thai dishes, alongside a selection of special offerings unique to Square One, though the exact details on what those will be are still under wraps.

There's no word on the exact opening date for Pai Mississauga, but the restaurant currently claims it's opening in Fall 2026.
