Celebrity fans of Toronto's steakhouses are as plentiful as they are varied, and Grammy-nominated record producer Benny Blanco just joined the club.
When it comes to Toronto chefs breaking out beyond city limits, Matty Matheson is, really, the blueprint. From appearing on the Golden Globe-winning The Bear to penning his own streaming deal with Netflix, it's safe to say the chef has made just as large a mark on Hollywood as he has on Toronto's own food scene.
His pack of celebrity pals and fans is only further evidence that his star reaches beyond the confines of his Ontario restaurants.
Most recently, Matheson reconnected with his friend and former collaborator, producer (and Mr. Selena Gomez) Benny Blanco, when he appeared on Blanco's podcast-reality show Friends Keep Secrets on Tuesday, July 14. Right off the bat, Blanco had some flattering words for Matheson.
"Matty has the best steakhouse I've ever been to in my entire life," Blanco decrees as soon as Matheson enters the room.
"So, I'm good?" Matheson jokingly responds.
Though Blanco doesn't name the restaurant specifically, any local steakhouse aficionado can tell you that Blanco is referring to Matheson's West Queen West masterwork, Prime Seafood Palace.
Granted, he may be a bit biased. Blanco and Matheson previously collaborated on their YouTube series Eat Out America and have, seemingly, remained good friends ever since, but the scores of Toronto locals who decree Prime Seafood Palace among their favourites would say he's right on the money.
At the very least, now we know where to look out for a Benny Blanco sighting the next time he's in the city.
Prime Seafood Palace is located at 944 Queen St. W.
