A relic of Toronto's once-thriving diner scene is about to close its doors for good, so it only made sense to stop in for one last visit before the Patrician Grill ends its more than 70-year run serving up short-order eats to hungry patrons.
The venerable dining institution first opened its doors in 1953, and, as of 2026, is one of the few remaining old-school diners in town.
But news of the restaurant's impending closure — the last plates of eggs and chicken clubs will be served up at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9th, 2026 — signalled the end of a decades-long legacy.
With Patrician Grill now in its last days, we stopped in for a final bite to eat at the longstanding institution.
